Cultural Immersion and Documentary Filmmaking in Istanbul, Turkey
Our Cultural Immersion and Documentary Program in Istanbul provides participants with an unparalleled opportunity to explore Turkish culture, history, and traditions while creating a collaborative documentary that highlights the shared cultural and historical connections between Turkey and Pakistan.
This program is ideal for students, filmmakers, historians, and cultural enthusiasts who wish to deepen their understanding of Turkish society and contribute to a creative project that bridges the cultural narratives of Pakistan and Turkey.
Program Objectives
- Cultural Exploration:
- Engage in immersive activities such as traditional arts, Turkish cuisine workshops, and visits to historical landmarks like Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and the Grand Bazaar.
- Attend lectures and discussions on Turkish history, culture, and its historical ties with Pakistan.
- Collaboration and Learning:
- Work in group Setting to develop creative storytelling skills.
- Learn the basics of documentary filmmaking, including scriptwriting, filming, editing, and post-production.
- Documentary Creation:
- Create a feature-length documentary exploring the shared heritage, cultural similarities, and unique histories of Pakistan and Turkey.
- Showcase personal narratives, historical events, and modern connections between the two nations.
Program Highlights
- Workshops and Training:
Hands-on workshops in filmmaking, storytelling, and photography led by industry experts. - Cultural Experiences:
Guided tours of Istanbul’s landmarks, traditional music and dance performances, and cultural exchange sessions with local Turkish families. - Networking Opportunities:
Engage with Turkish historians, filmmakers, and academics to build long-lasting connections. - Film Screening:
Participants will have the opportunity to present their finished documentary at a screening event in Islamabad , attended by local and international audiences.

Total Duration: 6 weeks
Location: Istanbul, Turkey
Eligibility Cirteria
- Applicants must be 18 years or older.
- Open to students, professionals, and cultural enthusiasts with a passion for learning, art and filmmaking.
- No prior filmmaking experience is required.
Ineligibility Critera
Applicants will not be considered for the program if they meet any of the following conditions:
- Marital Status: Individuals who are currently married or engaged.
- Dual Nationality: Applicants holding dual nationality are not eligible for this program.
Employment or Affiliations: - Individuals currently employed in a government office.
- Members or immediate family members of WEFP or participants of the FullyFunded program.
Program Cost
- Includes accommodation, local transport, meals, workshops, and cultural activities and airfares
- Personal costs are not covered
- Additional Stipend Applicable at the end of the Program
